"yaoi" started as a as a portmanteau of yama nashi, ochi nashi, imi nashi ( which translates to "no climax, no point, no meaning") so that's what I was referring to (although I misremembered and said plot instead of point whoops) I definitely prefer stories with overarching themes beyond "the characters get together" which is why kase-san annoys me so much I guess lol thank you for reading and enjoying my Analysis haha
